Faculty Position University of Massachusetts Chan Medical School (UMass Chan) in Worcester, MA

The Department of Ophthalmology & Visual Sciences, at the University of Massachusetts Chan Medical School (UMass Chan) in Worcester, MA, is seeking a faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor to full Professor level in the basic sciences. The appointment would be a senior tenured or junior tenure-track position. Faculty applicants must have a PhD or equivalent degree and a disease relevant research program in the eye field.

UMass Chan is a world-class research institution, consistently producing noteworthy advances in clinical and basic research. The UMass Chan faculty at large in 2021 was over 3,400 faculty, of which approximately 1,800 were actively employed by the institution and/or its clinical partner (UMass Memorial Health). In 2020, UMass Chan ranked 21st in the National Institutes of Health Blue Ridge rankings among all 140 United States medical schools. These rankings place our school 2nd in New England and 8th among all public medical schools in the U.S. UMass Chan also is routinely ranked by the magazine U.S. News & World Report in the top 10 percent of the nation’s medical schools and schools of osteopathic medicine, for its excellence in primary care education.

Our research programs are central to the Massachusetts Life Sciences Initiative. UMass Chan Medical School is one of five campuses in the UMASS system and there are extensive inter-campus collaborations with the Amherst, Dartmouth, Lowell, and Boston campuses.
