Lecturer in Korean


The Massachusetts Institute of Technology, in Cambridge, Massachusetts, Global Languages unit, invites applications for one full-time position as a Lecturer in Korean. This is a one-year, temporary appointment beginning September 1, 2022 and ending May 31, 2023, with the possibility of one-year renewals. The position is eligible for benefits and visa sponsorship.


Responsibilities include teaching six Korean language undergraduate-level sections and associated preparations and office hours. Classes are planned for in-person instruction at MIT’s Cambridge campus.


Candidates must have:

  • A minimum of a Master’s Degree in Korean language, teaching Korean as a foreign language,
  • second language acquisition, or a related field;
  • Native or near-native spoken and written proficiency in Korean and English;
  • At least three years’ experience in Korean language instruction at the college or university level
  • in North America;
  • A record of demonstrated excellence in teaching;
  • A record of on-going professional engagement and development.
