Position Description

PhD Positions in Theoretical High-Energy Physics at the University of Iceland

 

The Science Institute, University of Iceland, invites applications for up to three PhD positions in theoretical high-energy physics.

 

Field of work

 

The successful candidates will join a research group engaged in frontline research at the intersection between quantum field theory and gravitational theory in the Mathematics Division of the Science Institute. The research is funded in part by a Grant of Excellence recently awarded to the project “Quantum Fields and Quantum Geometry” by the Icelandic Research Fund. 

 

Qualification requirements

 

·       Applicants should hold an M.Sc. degree, or equivalent, in Theoretical Physics or Mathematics. Applicants who will receive the degree by the Fall of 2022, will be also considered.

·       Proficiency in written and spoken English.

·       Good cooperative and social skills.

·       Ability to work independently.

 

The successful candidates will have to apply for doctoral studies at the University of Iceland and be accepted before taking up their positions.

The PhD positions are for three years starting in Fall 2022 with a possible extention to fourth year subject to the availability of funding
