The Department of Music at Colgate University invites applications for a one-year Visiting Assistant Professor position in Music Theory beginning Fall semester 2022. Completion of PhD or DMA is required prior to or shortly after the date of hire. We are interested in candidates with a terminal degree in music theory or a related field, with exceptional musical skills, and a growing or established record of research. All areas of research/specialization will be considered, including those that complement and support current Music faculty interests at Colgate. The successful candidate will be expected to teach courses from the department’s harmony sequence, basic musicianship and songwriting, and a potential new course based on their research interests. The teaching load is five courses per year.
