The Wake Forest Center for Biomedical Informatics is seeking tenure-track Assistant and Associate Professor faculty members with research interests in Biomedical Informatics. The mission of the Center for Biomedical Informatics is to contribute to Atrium Health’s evolution as an academic learning health system and to foster better health across the local and national community served by Atrium Health by advancing and promoting informatics research, practice, and education. In October 2020, Wake Forest Baptist Health and Atrium Health were strategically combined to foster a new era of healthcare. Through this combination, there will be two medical school campuses, including a new medical school being built in Charlotte, North Carolina, and an expansion of medical networks. This new enterprise will combine research and clinical expertise to embark on an innovative journey to revolutionize the ways people stay healthy. This combination will act as a catalyst in medical research, innovation, and economic development. Successful applicants will possess an MD and/or PhD degree in a related discipline. The level of academic appointment will be commensurate with the candidates’ experience. This is an outstanding opportunity for individuals who desire to play a formative role in developing a preeminent interdisciplinary program in biomedical informatics and joining a dynamic and growing academic medical center. Ideal candidates will have the expertise and prior training to establish a research program to develop novel methods in informatics or innovative applications of existing methods. Research may focus on a range of areas across biomedical informatics sub-disciplines, including clinical informatics, translational informatics, medical informatics, public health informatics, nursing informatics, or high-performance computing/big data science. In addition to conducting independent research, faculty members will be expected to collaborate with existing investigative teams to improve the capacity to use complex data sets to answer research questions. Candidates will have opportunities to use informatics and predictive analytics to support the delivery of high-value, population-based care by Atrium Health.
