The University of Massachusetts Chan Medical School (UMass Chan) and the UMass Memorial Medical Group (UMMG) are seeking a Board Eligible/Board Certified Ophthalmologist with Retina Sub-Specialty Fellowship training and experience in clinical research. The Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences is growing its services and research in a community of one million people in central Massachusetts. This position provides an opportunity to develop a research career in the field of medical or surgical retina and to have a percentage of time dedicated to clinical practice. Join a vibrant growing academic program based in our Eye Center with a new residency program. Academic rank and salary are commensurate with training and experience.  A majority of time dedicated to clinical research during the first 3 years, with potential for up to 50% clinical component thereafter  Opportunity to collaborate and conduct retina research in fields of epidemiology, risk factors, genetics, bioinformatics, molecular biology, and ocular imaging  Can leverage large databases including case series, longitudinal data, multi-modal images, public databases and on-site biorepositories  Will direct research projects, write manuscripts, present at scientific meetings, and may participate in clinical trials  Opportunity for career advancement UMass Chan is a world-class research institution, consistently producing noteworthy advances in clinical and basic research.
