Chapman University invites applications for a full-time, instructional assistant professor of Italian Studies within the Department of World Languages and Cultures, Wilkinson College of Arts, Humanities, effective August 2022.

QUALIFICATIONS
Requirements include a Ph.D. in Italian; native or near-native fluency in Italian; demonstrated excellence in teaching Italian at the college level; effective application of current technologies in the classroom; demonstrated engagement with innovations in the field through attendance to pedagogical workshops and conferences, willingness to assist in program coordination, event programming, and student advising.

The ability to teach and develop lower and upper-division courses in the curriculum is required, https://www.chapman.edu/wilkinson/languages/italian.aspx. The ability to teach in a secondary language, such as Spanish, is also desirable. The area of specialization is open.

RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful applicant will teach lower-level Italian language courses, and upper-division courses within their area of expertise, in a thriving and dynamic program dedicated to teaching the Italian language and culture through technology, innovative methods, and community building. Expectations include assisting the program's head with program coordination, staying up-to-date with advancements in the field, advising the program’s student club and honors society.
