The Department of Political Science at Macalester College seeks candidates for a full-time, tenure-track position at the level of Assistant Professor to begin in August 2023. We invite applications from Political Theorists whose teaching and research intersect with questions of race and ethnicity. The successful candidate will contribute to the undergraduate curriculum with offerings in Political Theory at the introductory, intermediate and advanced levels, as well as electives focused on race and ethnicity. The teaching load is five courses per year. We welcome candidates whose teaching and scholarly interests can build bridges to other disciplines or Macalester’s interdisciplinary departments and concentrations, such as American Studies, International Studies, Asian Studies, Critical Theory, Middle Eastern Studies, Media and Cultural Studies, Environmental Studies, and Women, Gender and Sexuality Studies. Applicants should submit a cover letter that includes a statement of interest in Macalester and discusses demonstrated activity and contributions to diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives in their teaching, advising, mentorship, curriculum, scholarship, service or community and professional engagement. Strong candidates will have experience and vision regarding teaching and mentorship of students of multiple and diverse backgrounds with attention to structural barriers that limit access to educational opportunities.
