The Duke University Department of Chemistry invites applications for a ten-month non-regular rank, non-tenure track Instructor position to begin August 15, 2022. This is a term appointment, renewable upon review. 

The candidate would develop and implement general chemistry laboratory curricula, design and facilitate clear grading criteria, and especially develop and provide training and support to teaching assistants. Additional responsibilities include developing safety protocols and completing risk assessments for the laboratories, serving on committees, and working closely with members of the Department to enhance the undergraduate experience, including undergraduate research. Teaching opportunities, which provide supplemental income, may be available in the summer. 

The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in a related field, excellent communication abilities, outstanding people skills, adapt to changing environments, and demonstrate proficiency in maintaining instrumentation and computers. The position is a nine-month union appointment with the possibility of additional pay for optional teaching during the summer term.
