The Department of Classical Studies at Boston University invites applications for the position of tenure-track Assistant Professor, beginning 1 July, 2023. This is an open-specialty search in Latin literature. We are especially eager to receive applications from scholars who conceive of the Classics in broad, inclusive, and innovative ways; who have interests in translation or reception; and/or who study class, gender, or race in ancient literature. The course load is 2:2. The successful candidate would contribute to the teaching of Latin language and literature at the undergraduate and graduate levels, as well as teaching courses in translation. They could also contribute where possible to interdisciplinary teaching across the College of Arts and Sciences.

Boston University strives to create environments for learning, working, and living that are enriched by racial, ethnic, and cultural diversity. The successful candidate will enter a close-knit, supportive department, with fellow faculty who are ready to provide mentorship and support.
