The Boston University Department of Biology invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Cell & Molecular Neurobiology starting in Fall 2023. We seek a candidate who either works in the broad area of basic cellular mechanisms of nervous system function or investigates translational mechanisms of neurological and psychological disorders. We encourage candidates to apply who use cutting edge technologies to understand the underlying mechanisms at the cellular, molecular, neurocircuit and/or whole brain levels. Candidates may use invertebrate or vertebrate animal models, non-model species, or human neurons/brain tissues. This position will synergize with recent growth in faculty with expertise in systems-level analyses of the nervous system and neurological disease models.  Responsibilities include growing a vibrant research program with extramural funding, teaching at the graduate and/or undergraduate levels, and participating in graduate training. The successful candidate will join a strong and growing interdisciplinary Neuroscience research community at Boston University that also benefits from close affiliations with the Center for Systems Neuroscience and engineering initiatives including the Neurophotonics Center and synthetic and systems biology. Boston University expects excellence in teaching and in research, and is committed to building a culturally, racially, and ethnically diverse scholarly community. The successful candidate will be offered newly renovated laboratory facilities as well as a competitive salary and start-up package.

Review of applications will begin 1 November 2022. Please use https://academicjobsonline.org/ajo/jobs/22445 to submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae, statements of research, teaching interests and diversity, and three representative reprints, and arrange for three letters of reference to be submitted through the same website. In the diversity statement, applicants should provide evidence of a commitment to fostering diversity, equity, inclusive excellence, and evidence of participation in the creation of inclusive environments in their department/workplace.
