Postdoctoral Position in Foundations of Physics and Related Areas

Sean Carroll expects to be hiring a postdoctoral researcher, with expected start date in Fall 2023 and a duration of up to three years. Possible research areas include the foundations of quantum mechanics, spacetime, the evolution of complexity, entropy and the arrow of time, causality and emergence, the physics of social systems, and related questions in theoretical physics and philosophy. Applicants in any one of these areas, or in potentially related fields, are welcome to apply. Successful applicants can choose to be affiliated with the Physics & Astronomy or the Philosophy departments at Hopkins. They will be able to interact with vibrant research groups in both departments, as well as with researchers at the Santa Fe Institute (where Carroll is Fractal Faculty) and other centers and institutes at Hopkins.
