Position Description
The Department of Romance Studies at Boston University seeks a full-time Lecturer in Italian, beginning January 2023 or July 2023. Responsibilities include teaching and curricular development from beginning to advanced language and culture, including the ability to teach and coordinate multi-section language courses involving one or more of the following topics: translation, contemporary literature, current politics, migrant literature, Italian-American culture, fashion and food industries in Italy, Fascism and/or and the Holocaust in Italy, film and media. Minimum requirements include an MA in Italian, Second Language Acquisition, or a relevant field; demonstrated excellence in college-level teaching; native or near-native proficiency in Italian and English; and knowledge of current issues and methods in language teaching. Ability to teach beginning courses in French and Spanish when needed would be a plus. The successful candidate will also demonstrate ability to integrate language and culture and to contribute to curriculum development in a dynamic and collaborative language program.
