INTRODUCTION The Department of Communication at the University of Connecticut welcomes applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor with expertise in Interpersonal Communication. The position will be based on our Storrs campus and will begin on August 23, 2023. Potential areas of specialization may include family communication, interpersonal communication and health, interpersonal communication and social change, relational communication, and others. The candidate would be expected to teach our large lecture course in Interpersonal Communication, along with upper-level courses in their area of specialization: this may include Family Communication, Nonverbal Communication, Communication and Social Change, and others. We welcome applicants with expertise in a range of paradigms and methodologies, and encourage applicants with expertise in quantitative, qualitative empirical, and/or mixed methods approaches and an interest in teaching research methods to both undergraduate and graduate students. The successful applicant will have the potential to pursue funding opportunities from federal sources and/or private foundations. They will also have experience in – or the potential for – building an equitable and diverse scholarly environment in teaching, mentoring, research, or service that will bolster our commitment to engagement and inclusion of culturally diverse audiences in higher education, particularly in Communication. The Department of Communication has 20 tenure-stream faculty members and 5 non-tenure stream faculty and has approximately 35 graduate students and 1000 undergraduate majors. APPOINTMENT TERMS This is a full-time, 9-month, tenure-track position with an anticipated start date of August 23, 2023. The successful candidate’s academic appointment will be at the Storrs campus. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
