Research Associate in Theoretical Physics

Theoretical Physics Group, Department of Physics South Kensington Campus Fixed Term for: 24 Months Starting Date: October 1, 2023

Applications are invited for a Research Associate (RA) position in the Theoretical Physics Group of the Department of Physics at Imperial College London. The appointment will be initially for two years. The RA will work with Dr Claudia de Rham and will also interact with other members of the Theory Group.

The successful candidate must have a PhD degree in Theoretical Physics (either awarded or anticipated) or an equivalent level of professional qualifications and experience.

Essential criteria include outstanding research experience in Effective Field Theory approaches to gravity and cosmology. The candidates will have experience in carrying out original research of high quality, independently and in a team, with evidence provided by publications of high quality. It is also desirable that the successful candidate has experience in developing and testing consistent models of gravity.

The successful candidate will be expected to help produce independent and original research within the Theoretical Physics group and submit publications to refereed journals and help with teaching and administration of small research groups. The candidate will be expected to observe and comply with all College policies and regulations, including the key policies and procedures on Confidentiality, Conflict of Interest, Data Protection, Equal Opportunities, Financial Regulations, Health and Safety, Imperial Expectations (for new leaders, managers and supervisors), Information Technology, Private Engagements and Register of Interests and Smoking.
