Position Description

Department of Psychology
Cornell University

The Department of Psychology at Cornell University invites applicants for an open-rank, tenure-track position in aging/adult development to begin July 1, 2023. Candidates must have a PhD or equivalent degree, a strong record of published research, and interest or experience in teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

We are seeking innovative scientists whose research investigates aspects of developmental change. Applicants’ research should focus on adulthood and aging, with other areas of specialization open. Candidates are expected to lead a vigorous, externally funded, and internationally recognized research program commensurate to the rank at which they are applying. Candidates are also expected to contribute to our rigorous and innovative curriculum at the graduate and undergraduate levels.

The successful candidate can take advantage of the technological resources and collaborative environment of Cornell University to enhance their research program. The department has a broad base in psychology and neuroscience, is internationally recognized for its distinctive ecological perspective, and embraces interdisciplinary and translational approaches. The department has strong connections to Cornell’s Bronfenbrenner Center for Translational Research, houses a fMRI scanner dedicated to research, and maintains significant research collaborations with the medical campus in New York City. The successful candidate also will have the opportunity to join initiatives such as Cornell’s Integrative Center for Developmental Science, the Cornell Center for Behavioral Economics and Decision Research, and/or the Center for the Study of Inequality.

Review of applications will begin December 15, 2022, and continue until the position is filled. For consideration, please upload a curriculum vitae, statements of research and teaching interests, a statement of contribution to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and for applicants at the Assistant Professor rank, three letters of reference to Academic Jobs Online https://academicjobsonline.org/ajo/jobs/23717.
