*** this position has been closed and new applications are no longer accepted. ***
The SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory
(SLAC) is seeking an experimental Research Associate to work on the ATLAS
experiment at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN. The LHC presents ideal
opportunities for physics measurements and searches, developing experimental
experience in a challenging environment of rapidly increasing luminosity, and
developing new innovative reconstruction algorithms, detector upgrades, and machine
learning applications at the energy frontier.
The successful candidate is expected to contribute to physics analysis and the development of machine learning techniques and applications for ATLAS / LHC data, such as in reconstruction, simulation, and analysis, while also demonstrating alignment with the SLAC mission and values (https://careers.slac.stanford.edu/working-slac/mission-vision-values).
The SLAC ATLAS group consists of
approximately 20 people, of which 3 are currently based at CERN. Information on
the SLAC ATLAS group can be found on our web page http://www.slac.stanford.edu/exp/atlas/.
The SLAC group provides exciting and cutting-edge research opportunities on a variety of experimental areas, with current activities and developing interests including:
• SM and BSM Higgs and di-Higgs physics analysis
• Machine learning applications in simulation, reconstruction, trigger, and analysis
• Reconstruction & Performance, including b-tagging, tracking, jets and jet substructure
• High luminosity upgrade physics and event reconstruction
•
Detector
