The research group of Prof. Benedetta Flebus invites applications for a postdoctoral research associate position in the Department of Physics at Boston College. The successful candidate will conduct theoretical research at the interface between spintronics and quantum many-body dynamics. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, 1) the emergence of cooperative quantum phenomena and entanglement in quantum hybrid spin systems; 2) the application of novel quantum sensing techniques, such as nitrogen-vacancy centers, to probe condensed matter systems; 3) developing new theoretical frameworks and numerical tools to bridge classical and quantum descriptions of dissipative magnetization dynamics.
A PhD in physics or a closely related field is required. Candidates with a strong background in the theory of open quantum systems and non-Hermitian phenomena are strongly encouraged to apply. The initial appointment will be for two years, with the possibility for a third year, depending on availability of funding. The start date of the appointment is ideally July 2023, but it is flexible.
Interested applicants are encouraged to contact Prof. Benedetta Flebus directly at flebus@bc.edu providing a CV with publications and a brief description of research interests, and indicating the preferred start date. |
