The Department of Biology at Boston University invites applications for Postdoctoral Associate/Lecturer (PAL) appointments starting September 1, 2023. These positions are designed for recent Ph.D. recipients planning to pursue academic positions that emphasize teaching, such as faculty positions at primarily undergraduate institutions or lecturer positions. Initial appointments are for one year, and typically renewed for 1-2 additional years based on satisfactory performance. The PAL position is a 12-month full time position. Responsibilities are distributed between
teaching and scholarship of the candidate’s choice. For the instructional
component, the candidate will lead discussion sections and/or laboratories
of undergraduate biology courses, as well as have the opportunity to develop

year of their appointment. For the scholarship component, the candidate
can choose to be involved in one of the following opportunities: ·
Laboratory Research: Research will be conducted
in the laboratory of a faculty member in the department, with summers devoted
primarily to research activities. Candidates should work with a potential PI to
develop research plans. Additional information about our academic programs and
