Job Description: There is an immediate opening for a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Materials Chemistry in the Chemistry Department at Binghamton University (State University of New York at Binghamton). The position is sponsored by a National Science Foundation award and focuses on exploring the lattice strain effects on the electrochemical performance of binary and/or ternary metallic nanocatalysts. The ideal candidate will have a strong background and skills in the synthesis and manipulation of metallic nanocrystals, as well as knowledge of electrochemical reactions and experience in electrocatalytic evaluation and various characterizations of associated nanocatalysts. The successful candidate will take on a leading role in conducting materials synthesis, structural/composition characterization, and property assessment at Binghamton University. Key responsibilities of the position include synthesizing shape-controlled Pt-based alloy nanocrystals and studying their electrocatalytic performance towards ORR, OER, and other electrochemical reactions. The candidate will also manage and analyze research data, write research papers, present research results at meetings, contribute to research proposal preparation, and assist in mentoring graduate and undergraduate students in the research group. The successful candidate will join a dynamic and supportive research team and have the opportunity to work with state-of-the-art equipment and facilities at Binghamton University. Please forward any questions to: phychem2009@gmail.com

Requirements: We are seeking a highly qualified individual to join our research team. The ideal candidate will have a Ph.D. degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, or a related field, and demonstrated expertise in materials chemistry and nanomaterials synthesis. Specifically, we require a candidate with a strong background in nanocrystal synthesis and electrochemistry, with at least a couple of years of relevant experience. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, and a collaborative team-working spirit are essential for this role. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in nanocrystal structure analysis, fuel cell catalysis, and various solid-state characterization techniques/analyses such as TEM, XRD, XPS, etc. The ability to commence this project immediately is also a requirement.

Additional Information: Salary: $49,000 annually. The duration of this appointment is one year, but it may be extended for additional years based on the availability of funding and satisfactory performance. Employee Benefits: The Research Foundation for the State University of New York offers a comprehensive benefits package that is a valuable part of total compensation.
