Description

Cornell Law School invites applications for a full-time (12-month) position as Director of Externships and Pro Bono Scholars Program, and Lecturer of Law, ideally commencing in the 2023-2024 academic year.
Responsibilities of the position include:
  • Administering the Externship and Pro Bono Scholars Programs, including teaching and evaluating students in each program.
  • Working with the Associate Dean for Experiential Education to chart the strategic direction of the Externship and Pro Bono Scholars Programs.
  • Meeting with and leading informational and counseling meetings for interested students.
  • Updating and maintaining Externship and Pro Bono Scholars Program course materials.
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with Externship and Pro Bono Scholars placement sites and site supervisors.
  • Conducting the mid-semester and end-of-semester evaluation processes with students and site supervisors.
  • Creating various publications, reports, and resources.
  • Engaging with the regional and national law externship communities. 
The successful candidate will be appointed for an initial three-year term. Reappointment for a subsequent three-year term, followed by a five-year renewal term as senior lecturer, will be based on performance. Benefits are competitive and include a budget for research and travel.

Qualifications:
Applicants must have the following:
  • JD from an accredited institution and a license to practice law in any jurisdiction, and 2-4 years of experience. Preference will be given to candidates with a strong academic and/or career counseling background.
  • Superior interpersonal, written and verbal communication, group presentation, and organizational skills.
  • Experience building and/or defining a curriculum, and desire to develop appropriate curricula for externs and Pro Bono Scholars participants. • Ability to work independently and show proven initiative in the management of programs.
  • Demonstrated commitment to academic excellence, service, and commitment to student development.
  • Demonstrated commitment to supporting diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and wellbeing, and the ability to cultivate and develop inclusive and equitable working relationships with students,

Pay Range: $49,700-$119,000
