Department Summary

The Department of Counseling Psychology and Human Service seeks to hire a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer to provide instruction and academic support to undergraduates to undergraduate and graduate-level students in the College of Education (COE), primarily in the Counseling Psychology and Human Services (CPHS) department, with an emphasis on teaching in the Family and Human Services undergraduate major and Couples and Family Therapy and other departmental graduate courses. Course content areas may include human development, prevention science, research methods, human services, public health, couples and family therapy, applied psychology, and other core CPHS-related courses. Other responsibilities may include supervising students in field experiences or clinical settings, advising students; mentoring graduate student's applied research projects; departmental, college, and university service; collaborative curriculum and academic program leadership; and engaging in key state and national professional societies related to the field to further the mission of the program. All faculty are expected to contribute to the equity and inclusion goals of the college and to incorporate the best inclusive practices indicated in their field of expertise.

Position Summary

This position will provide instruction and academic support to undergraduate students in the College of Education, primarily in the Counseling Psychology and Human Services (CPHS) department. Course content areas may include FHS 301 Writing for Human Services and other core CPHS or COE courses related to professional writing and the presentation and dissemination of educational and research information to academic, policymaker, and general public audiences. Additionally, this position may be responsible for the coordination of UO undergraduate program and may be involved in the design and development of courses and the curriculum. Other duties include program, departmental, or college service. All faculty are expected to contribute to the equity and inclusion goals of the college and to incorporate the best inclusive practices indicated in their field of expertise.

This .50 FTE position is a nine-month Career Faculty position in the Instructor classification series. The position's responsibilities are guided by the COE Non-Tenure Track Professional Responsibilities Policy, United Academics' Collective Bargaining Agreement, and the COE's NTTF Policy for Promotion and Review.

The Instructor reports to the CPHS department head or relevant program director. This position may have shared supervision of a GE assigned to their courses in the program.

Minimum Requirements

Instructor Rank: Master's degree in English, Journalism or related writing-intensive field Documented expertise in writing instruction and professional writing style guidelines Teaching experience and professional expertise in the field as related to undergraduate writing instruction (e.g., teaching courses, presentations) Experience in APA writing style guidelines Peer-reviewed publications

Senior Instructor I must meet all the requirements of Instructor rank plus: 6 years of relevant experience post master's degree Evidence of high-quality teaching and professional expertise in the field as related to the position (e.g., teaching courses, presentations) Participates in undergraduate education (e.g., program committees) Documented service and/or leadership in the field, college, department, and/or program Documented program coordination or comparable leadership responsibilities and contributions to the undergraduate education program Scholarly contributions to the field as appropriate (e.g., develop and publish teaching or clinical materials, publish in the practice literature, grant applications)

Senior Instructor II meet all the requirements of Instructor and Senior Instructor I ranks plus: An additional 6 years of relevant experience post master's degree (12 years total) Active leadership responsibilities in a variety of areas including but not limited to, curriculum development, program development, and program evaluation of the undergraduate education. Widening of the scope of impact and audience of scholarly activities as appropriate (e.g., having a state or national office, develop and publish teaching or clinical materials, publish in the practice literature, write grant applications)

Professional Competencies

Demonstrated potential to contribute positively to our diverse community and to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills that will enhance community relations and support graduate student training Ability to teach a broad array of applied writing courses relevant to COE content areas

Preferred Qualifications

Doctoral degree in program field or related field 3 years of experience teaching writing Experience delivering online instruction. Experience teaching diverse student populations and first-generation college students
