Position Description
Multiple Faculty Positions in Epidemiology The Boston University School of Public Health invites applications for multiple faculty positions at all ranks (Assistant, Associate, Full) in the Department of Epidemiology. New faculty will be expected to develop and advance an externally funded epidemiologic research program while also supporting educational activities. Candidates whose scholarship addresses contemporary public health problems with creative and innovative approaches are encouraged to apply. Additionally, we invite candidates with a primary focus and track record of excellence in teaching to apply for a teaching track position. Teaching priorities include epidemiologic methods; data science, data analysis and statistical computing; and practice of epidemiogy in applied public health settings. The Department of Epidemiology faculty are nationally and internationally recognized for innovation in research and scholarship as well as their commitment to teaching and mentoring. The department consists of 29 primary faculty members who teach 35 courses annually, serving over 300 students in the MPH, MS, and PhD programs. Faculty members conduct research supported by NIH, CDC, and other public and private sources in areas such as reproductive, perinatal, infectious disease, environmental, aging, women’s health, disabilities, trauma and mental health, and social epidemiology. We welcome applications with expertise in all areas of epidemiology. Position Qualifications. Candidates should have a PhD or equivalent degree in epidemiology or an adjacent field, a strong record of publication and external funding for their career stage, and a commitment to graduate education and mentorship of students. Successful candidates will be expected to develop and lead an independent research agenda, actively engage in collaborative research, and participate in teaching and mentoring master’s and doctoral-level students, as well as have excellent oral and written communication skills and a strong desire to work in a team setting. Candidates for the teaching-focused track position should have a PhD or equivalent degree in epidemiology or an adjacent field and a strong record of graduate education and mentorship of students.
