Position Description

The Duke University Philosophy department, in collaboration with the Transformative Ideas curricular program will offer an Assistant Research Professor position. 

The successful candidate will join the Philosophy department at the rank of assistant research professor and serve as the executive director for the Transformative Ideas program. They will teach 2 courses per academic year at the discretion of the Transformative Ideas faculty director. They will work with the faculty director to ensure that Transformative Ideas Signature Courses are taught and staffed each year. The successful candidate may also teach other courses in their area of expertise with the agreement of the Transformative Ideas faculty director and the Philosophy department chair. They will work with the faculty director to facilitate additional teaching positions, administer the program and its staff, design curricula, and conduct fundraising. They will work with the program coordinator and faculty director to implement Transformative Ideas co-curricular programming. They will work with the student fellows director to oversee the program's living, learning community (LLC) and integrate the LLC to the curriculum. This is a two-year position with expectation of renewal for two additional years, subject to performance and funding.
