About us: Duke University is a world-renowned research institution with 2 recent Chemistry Nobel prize laureates. The Wiley lab in the Department of Chemistry is looking for an Associate in Research to participate in research programs in the areas of nanostructure synthesis, water electrolysis, and machine learning.Qualifications: The candidate for this position will be a highly motivated individual with extensive experience in materials synthesis and have PhD degree in chemistry or chemical engineering. Experience with nanostructure synthesis and electrochemistry is highly preferred.
Required qualifications include (1) excellent verbal and written communication skills, (2) PhD degree in chemistry or chemical engineering, (3) experience in materials chemistry and/or electrochemistry.
Job description: The Associate in Research will apply their technical skills toward development and implementation of nanostructure synthesis in order to meet the research sponsor’s product requirements. Ideally, the researcher will apply design of experiments and/or machine learning methods to arrive at optimal reaction conditions. The associate may also develop novel electrodes for electrolytic conversion of water to hydrogen, and the ideal reactor configuration to maximize hydrogen production. The candidate will work in association with the Professor Benjamin Wiley in the department of Chemistry in a thriving research environment where he/she will be able to interact with other researchers. This appointment will allow for improving the candidate’s research skills and advancing the state-of-the-art.
