Faculty Position in the Division of Gastroenterology Department of Medicine University of Massachusetts Chan Medical School

The Division of Gastroenterology ( at the University of Massachusetts Chan Medical School ( invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position.

As members of the T. H. Chan School of Medicine community (, we benefit from access to collaborative research and clinical colleagues with diverse expertise across the Department of Medicine, RNA Therapeutics Institute, Programs in Molecular Medicine and Innate Immunity, and Departments including Systems Biology, Biochemistry and Molecular Biotechnology, and Molecular, Cell, and Cancer Biology. We also share the campus with the Morningside Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences (, which supports a thriving Ph.D. training program and welcomed more than 60 first-year Ph.D. candidates in 2023.

Successful faculty candidates will conduct innovative research related to liver function, development, and/or disease in any model system. Candidates need not necessarily conduct research entirely focused on the liver but should indicate how their work will synergize with ongoing research with the Division and larger UMass Chan research community. We embrace different experimental systems including human and patient-based studies, murine and invertebrate model systems, and approaches that harness cell and molecular biology, genetics, immunology, genomics, and/or systems biology.

UMass Chan faculty are expected to engage in teaching, research, and service, and the successful candidate will be expected to direct an externally funded independent research program as well as participate in graduate and/or medical education. Modern laboratory space will be provided in the Lazare Research Building and extensive core facilities are available on campus. Candidates must have a PhD and/or MD (or equivalents), and a record of significant research accomplishments with the potential to lead an independent research program.

The highest priority will be given to investigators with outstanding research programs that enhance our current strengths and who demonstrate an interest in improving diversity and inclusion in the life sciences. Successful candidates will also demonstrate strong communication skills and an ability to engage in collaborative research endeavors.
