DUKE UNIVERSITY POSTDOCTORAL ASSOCIATE DEPARTMENT OF CIVIL AND ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEERING ROCKEY LAB A postdoctoral associate appointment is available in the Rockey Research Group at Duke University in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. Seeking highly motivated engineer or scientist with a desire to work on multiple research projects, mentor students, develop independent research, collaborate with others, and present and disseminate findings. Experience in environmental microbiology, molecular methods, cell culture, and integration of these areas with environmental engineering applications aligns well with the research projects. The successful applicant will possess a PhD in environmental engineering, microbiology, environmental sciences, public health, or a related field, have an excellent academic record, and work well in a collaborative research environment. A background in environmental microbiology and/or engineering is desired. Work will focus broadly on projects related to the environmental persistence of endemic and emerging pathogens in natural and built environments, and identification of engineering controls to effectively limit spread. The candidate should have the ability and be excited to work independently in the laboratory, plan and conduct experiments, interpret data, and present results to diverse audiences. Fluency in English (written and oral) is required. Excellent scientific writing skills and the ability to organize, analyze data and clearly disseminate findings are essential. The initial appointment will be for one year with the possibility for extension. Salary will follow the NIH, NRSA FY 2023 postdoctoral trainee and fellows stipend levels based on the candidate’s experience.
