Position Description
The Department of Religious Studies is pleased to announce an opening for a tenure-track assistant professor in the field of biblical studies. The successful candidate will be a dynamic scholar who focuses on early Christian and/or early Jewish literature of the first centuries BCE and CE. Candidates whose research interests have been historically neglected by scholars or who bring new perspectives on race, gender, and identity will receive particular consideration. The successful candidate will be available to teach introductory courses on the New Testament, including surveys, Jesus and the Gospels, and possibly early Judaism, as well as advanced seminars in the candidate’s area of specialization. Minimum Requirements • Ph.D. in biblical studies, early Judaism/Christianity, Religious Studies, or another closely related discipline by the time of appointment. • Evidence of successful teaching in the academic study of religion is desirable and the willingness to work with students, faculty, and staff from diverse backgrounds is required.Application Materials Required:
