Position Description
Postdoctoral Associate for the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Paleomagnetism Laboratory The MIT Paleomagnetism Laboratory in the Department of Earth, Atmospheric, and Planetary Sciences invites applicants for a Postdoctoral Associate. The associate will conduct research in Earth and planetary paleomagnetism under the direction of the laboratory Principal Investigator (PI) Professor Benjamin Weiss. Research topics can span one or more of topics ranging from lunar, Martian and meteorite paleomagnetism and Earth magnetism and will be identified and developed in discussions with the PI. Candidates with a Ph.D. in planetary science, geoscience, physics, or closely related fields are preferred. Candidates should have research experience in a laboratory sciences and paleomagnetism and rock magnetism, the ability to work as both a collaborative and self-initiating team member, and strong communication and quantitative skills. The position will have a duration of at least one year with the possibility of extension.
