Position Description

The Department of Neurobiology at the University of Massachusetts Chan Medical School invites applications from outstanding candidates for a tenure-track assistant professor position. We have created an inclusive, equitable and diverse scientific environment that fosters innovative neuroscience research through the integration of multiple levels of analysis from invertebrate models such as Drosophila and C. elegans, to vertebrate models such as mice, human tissues and cells. Particular areas of focus in the department include neural circuit development, genetics of behavior, addiction and motivated behavior, neural-immune interactions, and neurodegeneration and regeneration. We are seeking an energetic and collaborative individual who will develop and maintain an innovative, externally funded research program to tackle important questions in neurobiology, while promoting diversity, equity, and inclusivity within the department. We are particularly interested in candidates employing novel computational approaches as a major component of their research. Exceptionally strong candidates in other areas will also be considered. Candidates should have a PhD in biomedical research and a minimum of two years post-doctoral research experience.

The Department of Neurobiology has high-performance computing facilities, state-of-the-art laboratory space and equipment, and a full-time administrative staff to support the research activities of its faculty. We offer competitive start-up funds, laboratory space and salary. The Department is soon to be housed in a state-of-the-art new building opening in early 2024. For more information, please visit the Department website at https://www.umassmed.edu/neurobiology/. Applicants should submit a cover letter explaining their interest in the Department, a curriculum vitae that includes honors and publications, a diversity statement and a succinct research plan to https://academicjobsonline.org/ajo/jobs.
