Position Description
The MIT Kavli Institute for Astrophysics and Space Research (MKI) invites applications for a Postdoctoral Associate to work in the group of Prof. Sarah Millholland and conduct research on exoplanet demographics, dynamics, formation, and evolution. The appointment is for two years, with the possibility of extension to a third. The start date is flexible within Summer/Fall 2023. Depending upon the applicant’s research interests and qualifications, possible research topics may include, but are not limited to: (1) the study of planetary orbital dynamics using analytic and numerical methods, (2) the study of planet formation theory, (3) the study of exoplanet architectures and demographics using statistical methods, and (4) the study of planetary interiors/atmospheres using structural models. Applicants must have a PhD in Astronomy, Astrophysics, Physics, Planetary Science or a closely related field by the start of the position. Experience with theoretical or observational exoplanet research is preferred. The successful applicant must have the ability to carry out an independent research program and also work collaboratively with students and other members of the MKI community.
