Position Description:    

The Sanford School of Public Policy invites applications for two Lecturer positions (all ranks).  We seek applicants who can and are excited to teach courses in introductory microeconomics, applied microeconomics and statistics/econometrics as part of Sanford’s core curriculum in public policy studies at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. Our programs offer instructors a unique opportunity to balance academic rigor and practical policy relevance when designing their courses. Candidates must have a PhD in Public Policy or Economics; at least four years post-PhD teaching experience (lead instructor); and excellent teaching references at the college or university level. We seek applicants who have an applied policy focus in their teaching, who can successfully train and mentor teaching assistants and whose primary interest is teaching and mentoring students.

Interested candidates should submit the following for review: (i) cover letter describing motivation to be part of a policy school; (ii) curriculum vitae (including a summary of classes taught); (iii) a one-page statement describing their teaching philosophy, previous experiences, future plans for teaching, and experience and approach to fostering an inclusive learning and mentoring environment for their students; (iv) teaching evaluations (v) a one-page research statement that describes current and future research interests, and; (vi) list of three professional references (which may be contacted for letters of recommendation).  The deadline for priority review is January 19,2024.  Applications will then be reviewed on a rolling basis until April 01, 2024, or until the positions have been filled.

At the Sanford School Lecturers are appointed under a fixed-term three-year contract. Continued renewal is possible conditional on formal performance review. Salary is competitive and commensurate with job candidate’s experience. Candidates can only be considered for a Senior lecturer rank at initial appointment when having made a distinctive contribution to the craft of teaching as demonstrated by excellence in teaching and some of the following factors: curricular innovation, exemplary pedagogy, participation in national conferences on the scholarship of teaching and learning, writing and or mentoring about teaching, an exemplary record of student mentoring, or an original contribution to program development.
