The High Energy Physics Division (HEPD) at Argonne National Laboratory has openings for postdoctoral fellows to conduct research in particle physics theory. We seek highly qualified candidates with interest in all areas of phenomenology of particle physics with a desire to work closely with experimentalists as well as theorists. Positions can be joint with local universities such as Northwestern University.
The Argonne and Northwestern particle theory group members’ interests span several aspects of field theory and particle physics phenomenology, including QCD, collider physics, beyond the Standard Model phenomena, topics in the interface of particle physics and cosmology, precision PDFs and intersections with computing and other branches of particle theory. Among the experiments with Argonne and/or Northwestern University involvement are ATLAS, CMS, DUNE, g-2, Mu2e, LSST-DESC, LZ, SPT and CMB-S4. There is also interest and studies on-going for possible next generation colliders. Beyond this work, postdoctoral researchers are expected to contribute to the overall program through interactions with their colleagues, as well as to have a relevant impact on the US HEP program.
The initial appointment will be for one year, with possibility of renewal for another two years. The expected starting date will be in September 2024. |
