The Lawyering Program at Cornell Law School seeks candidates for a full-time visiting faculty position during the 2024-2025 academic year.
The Lawyering course is a year-long course (two credits each semester) that introduces first-year students to lawyering skills, with an emphasis on legal writing, legal analysis, oral-presentation skills, and legal research. Lawyering faculty collaborate to ensure a uniform core curriculum, but they retain substantial academic freedom. Law librarians teach the research component of the course. The visiting faculty member will teach one section of the Lawyering course (approximately 35 students) each semester.
Appointment to this position is for a one-year term. Reappointment for a second year may be possible based on performance and funding availability.
Salary and benefits are competitive and include a budget for research and travel.

Qualifications:
Applicants must have a J.D., excellent academic credentials, a strong writing background, and substantial legal-practice experience. Teaching experience is also preferred.

The expected starting salary for this position is $80,000/year.

Pay Ranges:
The hiring rate of pay for the successful candidate will be determined considering the following criteria:
- Prior relevant work or industry experience.
- Education level to the extent education is relevant to the position.
- Academic Discipline (faculty pay ranges reflects 9-month annual salary)
