Position Description
Assistant Teaching Professor (Tenure-track) in Chemistry The Department of Chemistry at the University of Victoria invites applications for an Assistant Teaching Professor in Chemistry. The successful applicant will be offered a tenure-track appointment in the teaching stream with a proposed start date of September 1, 2024. A PhD in physical or analytical chemistry is required. The candidate's qualifications, experience and overall market demand will determine a candidate’s final salary offer. The salary for this position includes a competitive salary range of $115,927 - $143,204. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching general chemistry courses (especially classes with large cohorts in first year) and analytical or physical chemistry courses at all levels. The appointee will become an outstanding teacher and mentor of a diverse group of undergraduate and graduate students. The appointee will also contribute to the development, delivery and implementation of teaching innovations to the core programs in Chemistry. It is anticipated that the appointee will actively participate in the development and updates of the curricula of all Departmental programs, engage in the scholarship of teaching and learning, and interact with the general public through community engagement and outreach activities. The appointee is expected to be able to participate and coordinate teams of instructors for course development and delivery.
