Position Description
Summary:
Based at Duke University, the Southeast Regional Coalition for University-Assisted Community Schools (SRCUACS) conducts research to assess the needs of lower-income urban and rural communities in North Carolina to inform the implementation of university-assisted community school (UACS) partnerships across the state. The associate in research will join the Program in Education at Duke University to lead and disseminate this research.
Work
Performed (i.e. Duties):

Serve
as the principal investigator for the SRCUACS grant from the Netter Center for
Community Partnerships at the University of Pennsylvania
·
Provide
social scientific coordination and support for research activities across
SRCUACS. Serve as the investigative team lead studying how various disciplines
across the university utilize teaching, learning, research and service to
respond to the needs identified by community schools
·
Collect
qualitative data to measure the efficacy of innovative teacher preparation
programs
·
Survey,
analyze, and map emerging research expertise on North Carolina higher education
campuses
·
Coordinate
community-engaged research-practice partnerships between UACS faculty
governance bodies and respective community schools
·
Facilitate
RACESOC 395 research seminar for Duke and NCCU undergraduate students exploring
emerging themes in university-assisted community schools through the Bass
Connections program
·
Lead
data-driven summer research experience for undergraduate students from Duke,
North Carolina State University, and Eastern Carolina University through the
Data + and Code + programs
·
Disseminate
findings in journal articles and conference presentations
·
Host
annual undergraduate UACS research symposium
· Train and supervise graduate student workers in social science research project management
Other duties as required.
Qualifications:
Education: Work requires communications, academic research experience, publications, and analytical and organizational skills acquired through the completion of a bachelor’s degree. Master’s degree or terminal degree preferred.
Experience:
Work generally requires 3+ years of experience as a social science researcher,
educator, organizer, and administrator.
