Teaching Assistant Professor Position

The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign invites applications for a full-time Teaching Assistant Professor in the area of Construction Engineering and Management. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching courses in the Construction Engineering and Management (CEM) area at both undergraduate and graduate levels, hold office hours, managing the Global Leaders in Construction Management Program (GLCM), and represent the Department and Construction Engineering and Management Program at industry and academic functions and provide service to the department, the university, and the profession. Ideal candidates include those who demonstrate evidence of a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through research, teaching, and/or service endeavors.

The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign has a long tradition of excellence in fundamental and translational research, teaching, and service. The Department currently has 58 faculty, $20 million research expenditures, and 680 undergraduate and 560 graduate students. All successful candidates must have at least a PhD in Civil Engineering with concentration in construction engineering and management and a minimum 5 years of experience teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in construction engineering and management. In addition to teaching qualifications, successful candidates must have a minimum of 5 years of related experience on construction projects, exhibit experience in organizing national and international construction site visits for undergraduate and graduate students and proficiency in technical writing, communication and presentation skills. The ability to demonstrate scholarly work in engineering education journals and conferences is preferred.

This is a renewable, non-tenure track position appointed on an academic year (9-month service basis) paid over twelve months. The proposed start date is August 16, 2024. Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
