Job Description: Research Associate Organization: Duke University Position: Research Associate Location: Duke University, Durham, NC Report to: Professor James Roberts; Economics Department at Duke University Start Date: January 1, 2025 Length of Commitment: 24 months (renewable possible) Qualifications and Experience Qualifying candidates will have: -Received a doctorate -Significant coursework and experience in economics -Excellent organizational, communication and writing skills -Prior research experience preferred -Self-motivating, able to manage multiple tasks efficiently, complete tasks assigned and meet deadlines. Language Requirement: English (fluent) Responsibilities: The expectations for the position are to (i) engage in the intellectual life of the department (including seminars, workshops, and reading groups related to your research interests), (ii) pursue your research program in labor and education issues in developing countries/economies, starting any new collaborations as these develop organically and as you see fit, (iii) participate in our teaching program at the undergraduate level, teaching approximately one course per academic year. You will be conducting your research at Duke, and occasionally in foreign country. This position will report to the chair of the department, and evaluations of your performance will be based on student teaching evaluations, and the progression of your research, measured by, for example, number of articles under submission, at the revise and resubmit stage, completed working papers, grants applied for, grants awarded, and other notable research-related milestones.
