Cornell Law School is seeking to hire a staff attorney to collaborate with and contribute to
Path2Papers, a new deferred action for childhood arrivals (DACA) project at Cornell Law School. The selected candidate will consult with DACA beneficiaries about their visa options with a focus on employment-based options. They will also advise employers and law firms on employment visa options for DACA beneficiaries. The selected candidate may also prepare and file various immigration applications for DACA recipients in conjunction with the
Immigration Law & Advocacy Clinic.
This term position may be part-time or full time, with a minimum of approximately 25 hours a week. The position is benefits eligible. Anticipated start date for the position is August or September 2024. The position will continue until December 2025 or as long as funding is available.
The position may be conducted remotely within the United States (pending university approval). Please note that New York convenience of employer guidelines require New York State individual tax reporting and withholdings for the position if the work is conducted outside of NYS. Additional individual state income tax filings may also be required if working outside NYS.
Occasional travel to Ithaca, NY, San Francisco, CA, and/or other project locations may be required. Travel expenses will be reimbursed.
Qualifications
Applicants must have a law degree (J.D.) and be admitted in good standing to a state bar. The ideal candidate will have the following:
- Experience with employment-based immigration processes, including H-1B, PERM, and similar visas.
- Strong research and writing skills.
- Superior analytical skills and an ability to write and speak clearly and persuasively.
- Self-motivation with the ability to take the initiative and follow through on projects to completion.
- Ability to work independently and with others.
- A demonstrated commitment to immigration law.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in filing immigration petitions.
- Experience working with undocumented and DACA communities.

The pay range for a full-time candidate in this position is $85,000-$120,000, dependent on experience. Candidates who prefer a part-time role will be compensated proportionately.
