Research
The Department of Population Health
Sciences (DPHS) at Duke University invites applications and nominations for regular
rank faculty positions at the Associate or Full Professor level.
DPHS consists of 52 primary faculty members, 57 scholars with secondary
appointments, and 97 professional staff who conduct and support research and
prepare the next generation of professionals to explore multi-level factors
impacting the health of populations. DPHS offers both M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in
population health sciences. DPHS’ ultimate goal is to reduce health disparities,
implement effective health innovations, measure true health needs and their
relative value to patients, and link communities and healthcare systems.
Faculty collaborate closely with clinical departments and institutes across the
School of Medicine.
The faculty member will be a member of
the Center for Health Measurement within DPHS. The Center’s mission is to
design and conduct research studies on critical methodological issues for
measuring patient-centered outcomes and to collaborate with investigators from
academia, industry, and government to promote the principled use of
patient-centered outcome measures in research and healthcare delivery settings.

We
seek a candidate who is interested in designing clinical outcome assessments
(e.g., patient-reported, observer-reported, performance-based, digital
technologies) for different clinical research and healthcare delivery settings
across a broad range of disease groups
(including rare diseases) and
demographic populations (e.g., race, ethnicity, age, sex, gender).
Successful candidates will have track records of creativity and productivity, a
desire to join our exciting and collaborative community, and a commitment to
integrity, authenticity, and diversity.
Requirements:

A
PhD, ScD, DrPH or equivalent research doctoral degree in public health,
population health sciences, psychology, pharmacy, nursing, or a related
discipline.

Experience
with clinical outcome assessments and their application in clinical research
and healthcare delivery settings.
·
Demonstrated
ability to conduct scholarly research and capacity to obtain peer-reviewed
funding.

Ability
to mentor pre- and post-doctoral students and demonstrate teaching excellence
at the graduate level.

Highly
self-motivated individual, enthusiastic about scientific discovery and able to
collaborate closely and effectively with other members of a research team
·
Commitment
