The Department of German Studies at Cornell University invites applications for a three-semester Visiting Assistant Professor position, starting Jan. 1, 2025. Preference given to candidates whose work in literary studies, cultural studies, and/or critical theory focuses on the 20th and 21st centuries.
The successful candidate will teach two courses per semester at a range of levels, including advanced courses in German and outreach courses in English.
Ph.D. in German Studies or a closely related field; active research profile; substantial teaching experience; as well as excellent German and English language competence required.

Interviews will be scheduled via Zoom in October 2024.

offers in the College of Arts and Sciences will be based on education,
experience, discipline, and relevant skills.

Pay Ranges:
The hiring rate of pay for the successful candidate will be determined considering the following criteria:
- Prior relevant work or industry experience.
- Education level to the extent education is relevant to the position.
- Academic Discipline (faculty pay ranges reflects 9-month annual salary)
- Unique applicable skills.
