Physics Department UC Irvine JOB POSTING – POSTDOCTORAL FELLOW

Area of Research: Condensed Matter Physics and Theory of Quantum Matter

Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Researcher position in the group of Prof. Thomas Scaffidi at the University of California, Irvine, starting in Fall 2025.

The Postdoctoral Fellow will conduct research in the area of condensed matter physics and the theory of quantum matter (broadly defined) under the supervision of Prof. Scaffidi. Topics of interest include electron hydrodynamics, dynamics of quantum information, unconventional superconductivity, and quantum magnetism.

Active collaboration with other research groups at UC Irvine (both theoretical and experimental) will be strongly encouraged.

Required qualifications: • PhD in Theoretical Condensed Matter physics or in a closely related field • Solid background in analytical and numerical methods of many-body quantum physics • Experience with computational approaches, including but not limited to Krylov methods, Tensor Networks, Machine Learning, Quantum Monte Carlo,…
