Position Description

The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science invites applications for a tenure-track position in Computer Science at the assistant professor level beginning Fall 2025. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to our Computer Science, Data Science, and Mathematics majors. The position requires a Ph.D. in Computer Science or a related field (to be completed no later than the start of the 25-26 academic year.) Candidates from all CS-related specialties are encouraged to apply. We seek candidates with a strong commitment to designing computer science curriculum that is accessible to a wide range of students, enthusiasm for teaching undergraduate students at all levels, and a research program that can involve undergraduate researchers. We are particularly interested in candidates committed to teaching a diverse student body. To support your research agenda, the college offers a paid semester-long research leave in the 4th or 5th year of service after a successful Third-Year Review. To receive full consideration, please submit an application by November 22 that includes:1) a current CV with documentation of teaching experience, 2) a cover letter that describes your motivation for applying and how a liberal arts environment dedicated to diversity and inclusion aligns with your teaching philosophy, 3) a teaching statement, and 4) a research plan that also details your strategy for involving undergraduates in your work. Please request three reference letters. All documents should be uploaded through AcademicJobsOnline.org or sent electronically (in a single pdf) to Professor Enrique Treviño, cssearch@lakeforest.edu. A highly selective liberal arts college located on Chicago’s North Shore, Lake Forest College enrolls approximately 1,800 students from more than 40 states and from more than 100 countries. Lake Forest is one of the most diverse small colleges in the Midwest with approximately 40% of our student body comprised of domestic students of color and international students. The majority of our STEM pool is female and also includes a significant number of first generation and traditionally underrepresented students. At Lake Forest College, the quality of a faculty member’s teaching is the most important criterion for evaluation. The College also expects peer-reviewed publications and active participation in the College community. Lake Forest College embraces diversity and encourages applications from women, members of historically underrepresented groups, veterans, and individuals with disabilities.
