The faculty of the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of South Carolina, Columbia campus, invites applications for a 9-month, full-time, open-rank faculty position in experimental condensed matter physics to begin on August 16, 2025.

Applicants must hold a PhD degree in Physics or a closely related field by the start date of employment and have a strong record of research and publications. Individuals with interests in design, fabrication, and study of quantum materials-based devices are strongly encouraged to apply.

The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses, build an independent research program, and interact with the vibrant quantum materials physics community on campus. The Department of Physics and Astronomy conducts vigorous research in experimental and theoretical condensed matter physics. The SmartState Center for Experimental Nanoscale Physics hosts a state-of-the-art shared facility for the design, fabrication, and characterization of quantum materials.
