Southern Methodist University 
Chemistry Lecturer (Position Numbers 00053621 and 00052253) 

The Department of Chemistry at Southern Methodist University (SMU) invites applications for two (2) non-tenure-track full-time lecturer positions. Applicants should present evidence of strong interest in teaching and interacting with undergraduate diverse students. In addition, successful candidates should have strong communication and organizational skills. The start date for both positions is expected to be August 1, 2025. However, earlier start dates will be considered if the timing fits with the new lecturers’ schedules. 

The focus of one position (Position 1 – Position No. 00053621) is on, but not limited to, teaching undergraduate general chemistry lectures and laboratories, and the day-to-day maintenance and operation of the labs. The focus of the second position (Position 2 – Position No. 00052253) is on, but not limited to, teaching undergraduate organic chemistry lectures and laboratories, and the day-to-day maintenance and operation of the labs. The expected teaching loads of both positions will be 4 courses per semester, and training is provided. 

These are entry level positions. Promotion to Senior Lecturer is possible after 5 years. Qualifications: 
A completed PhD or MS degree in Chemistry or a related discipline is required, and experience in teaching undergraduate general chemistry/organic chemistry courses, or experience as a general chemistry/organic chemistry teaching assistant (TA) is preferred. Experience in the maintenance of instrumentation is a plus for both positions.
