Position Description

We invite applicants for a postdoctoral position in the group of the collaboration Observables at the Institut de Physique Théorique at Université Paris-Saclay. We are seeking a candidate with significant experience in theoretical aspects of scattering amplitudes in gauge theory and gravity, as well as in integrability methods applied to observables. Candidates will theoretically calculate different observables:  differential cross-sections at large multiplicities relevant to LHC physics, energy correlations allowing us to understand the properties of jets in QCD, and gravitational observables for the analysis of gravitational waves emitted from binary systems. Candidates will have the opportunity to work closely with our international network of collaborators. The candidate will collaborate closely with the membres of the collaboration: Pierre Vanhove, Gregory Korchemsky, Didina Serban and Dmitry Chicherin.

The position is for up to 2 years contingent on performance. The start date is flexible within the calendar year of 2025.

The IPhT is located just outside of Paris in picturesque Gif-sur-Yvette at the French CEA and Université Paris-Saclay. Free shuttle buses and transit-pass discounts are provided for researchers who wish to live in downtown Paris. Remote and hybrid work options are also available.

This position is one of several postdoctoral positions in our group that will be filled over the next year. Application review has begun and will continue on a rolling basis until the positions are filled. Interested candidates should submit an application through AcademicJobsOnline and include a CV with publication list, research statement (2-4 pages with reasonable font sizes and spacing), 3-5 reference letters, and a 1-page cover letter summarising their qualifications and interest in this position.

For further information, please contact Pierre Vanhove at observables@ipht.fr.
