Position Description
The Sheng Yang He Lab at Duke University, Department of Biology, has an opening for a Postdoctoral Associate. The lab utilizes contemporary methods in molecular genetics, genomics, cell biology, biochemistry, bioinformatics and microbiology to answer basic and translational questions in the study of “plant-microbe-climate” multidimensional interactions. The candidates, in consultation with Professor He, can choose projects to advance the understanding of plant immunity, microbial pathogenesis and their stability under changing climatic conditions. This is an emerging research topic of significant practical implications for the design of climate-resilient plants of the future. Candidates for this position should have obtained, at the time of the position start date, a Ph.D. degree in biological sciences. Candidates should have a record of high-quality molecular biology publications demonstrating competence in critical scientific thinking and research creativity in bacterial translation control. Substantial knowledge and experience with components of the bacterial translational machinery and ribosomal collision and resolution is required. Additional knowledge and skills in microRNA and developmental regulation of seed coat tannins in Arabidopsis are desirable. There will be significant opportunities for professional growth and career development activities.
