Position Description

The Sheng Yang He Lab at Duke University, Department of Biology, has an opening for a part-time (25-30 hours/week) research scientist position. The lab utilizes contemporary methods in molecular genetics, genomics, cell biology, biochemistry, bioinformatics and microbiology to answer basic and translational questions in the study of “host-microbe-climate” multidimensional interactions. The successful candidate will work to advance ongoing lab research projects and new collaborations. Candidates for this position should have obtained a Ph.D. degree in biological sciences. Candidates should have a record of high-quality molecular biology publications demonstrating competence in critical scientific thinking and research creativity in the development of non-invasive reporters of cellular excitability, development of energy-transfer based nano-probe system for biomolecular assay, and use of SUMO (Small Ubiquitin-like Modifier) chip for analysis of SUMOylation to a target protein.

The Research Scientist (#1826) position also requires 5 or more years of postdoctoral experience conducting scientific research.
