Position Description
The William H. Miller III Department of Physics and Astronomy at Johns Hopkins University invites applications for a postdoctoral associate position in the experimental physics group of Prof. Alex Sushkov. The group's research is focused on precision experiments in the fields of fundamental physics, nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), and condensed matter physics. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to lead a variety of experiments, focusing on developing new precision quantum sensing technologies and devices. One of our motivations is the pursuit of table-top searches for new fundamental physics, including the CASPEr and SHAFT searches for ultra-light axion dark matter. Another driving motivation is quantum sensing in the context of condensed matter physics and nanoscale precision magnetic resonance. More details can be found at the group's website: http://www.sushkov.com/ The successful candidate will participate in ongoing collaborations with experimental and theory groups at JHU, as well as Stanford University and Mainz. Applicants should have a PhD prior to the start date and significant research experience with AMO, precision measurements, NMR, condensed matter, and/or low temperature systems. Applications should be submitted through the academic jobs online website and should consist of a CV with a list of publications, brief (2-3 pages) statement of research, and at least three letters of recommendation. Review of applications will continue until this position is filled. The position start date is flexible. For information on benefits, please see https://hr.jhu.edu/benefits-worklife/.
