Post-Doctoral Associate in Asian Climate and Environmental StudiesThe Asian/Pacific Studies Institute (APSI) at Duke University seeks applications for a postdoctoral associate researching environmental and climate studies in Asia from Fall 2025 for one year, potentially renewable for a second contingent on funding. Candidates should be researching contemporary aspects of environmental studies and/or climate change in East or Southeast Asia. Applications will be entertained from both the social sciences and humanities fields.
The associate is required to develop and teach one course per year on topics related to the research and participate in APSI activities. The course should cover the region broadly and may be offered at the graduate or undergraduate level depending on departmental needs.
In addition to teaching and research, the associate will be responsible for working with APSI faculty and staff to organize and facilitate an annual conference on Environmental Futures in Asia. Travel to Asia may be required.
APSI has a sustained interest in environmental humanities and the position is also designed to complement the Duke Climate Commitment. The selected candidate will pursue their own research in conjunction with APSI and the Climate Commitment.

Candidates who have earned their PhD within the past five years will receive prioritized consideration.

Minimum Education and Experience:
The position requires a Ph.D. and demonstrated engagement with East and/or Southeast Asian Studies related to climate and/or environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience publishing and teaching courses related to climate and environment in Asia.
